Instructor
Olyvea Yambrovich Norton
Olyvea Yambrovich Norton was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, where she began her dance training in her adolescence at the Academy of Movement and Music. She trained vigorously in classical ballet with Stephanie Clemens, Mei-Kuang Chen, JP Tenuta, and in Martha Graham technique with Sandra Kaufmann. She performed with Momenta Dance Company throughout her years at the Academy. She has trained in many other techniques such as Doris Humphrey, JoJo Smith Jazz, and Contact Improvisation.
She is a 2025 graduate from Indiana University, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Contemporary Dance and a minor in Psychology with a focus in Developmental Psychology. While in college, she had the pleasure of performing works by Liz Shea, Beatrice Capote, Selene Carter, and Caroline Dahm.
From the beginning of her training, she took a special interest in choreography as it relates with human connection through movement and its ability to heal. She considers herself a multidisciplinary artist since she works in a variety of mediums besides dance such as acting, and singing. Her personal works and choreography are deeply inspired by re-evaluating the social construct of beauty within dance. She has showcased her works in numerous productions throughout her time with Indiana University Contemporary Dance.
