Sean Aaron Carmon

Sean Aaron Carmon joined the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in 2011 and has performed major solo roles including Mikhail Baryshnikov’s original role in Alvin Ailey’s Pas de Duke and featured roles in ballets by other notable choreographers such as Wayne McGregor, Robert Battle, Aszure Barton, Johan Inger, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano and Christopher L. Huggins, to name only a few. In addition, he has been featured on Conan, the national TBS television talk show, Lincoln Center at the Movies, broadcast nationally on PBS and he was profiled in the Huffington Post.

 

As a musical theater performer, Sean has performed on Broadway in La Cage aux Folles, The Phantom of the Opera, Disney’s The Lion King and Kinky Boots.

 

Sean’s own choreographies have been performed all across the country and internationally and have been lauded as “everything and then some…” and “powerful” and “seriously flawless” by major national print and online publications such as The New York Times, Newsweek, Jet Magazine, BroadwayBlack, Dance Spirit and Dance Magazine. Mr. Carmon is a YAGP Outstanding Choreographer, won The Joffrey Ballet’s Winning Works award and has won Audience Choice awards on several occasions. He has also created works on the AAADT for multiple benefit performances.

He has created original and lauded works for Houston Contemporary Dance Company, Vitacca Ballet, Mareck Dance and other professional companies across America.

 

Mr. Carmon is currently on faculty with HEAT Convention and Competition, teaches guest master classes and choreographs for festivals, companies, studios and universities across the country and internationally.

Programs & Classes

Professional Conservatory

The Professional Conservatory (PC) offers daytime and evening programs for members to train with a world renowned professional faculty in a versatile regiment of codified techniques and movement principles to prepare for all aspects of professional and collegiate dance.

The Conservatory

The Conservatory offers multiple training opportunities for ages 8 and up. Conservatory dancers will focus on training in a minimum of two ballet technique classes per week, and have the option to add modern technique, jazz technique and musical theater, contemporary and pointe technique (upon invitation only).

The Children's Conservatory

The Children’s Conservatory offers multiple training opportunities for ages 2-7. Dancers in the Children’s Conservatory will develop a love for dance by building a proper foundation that lasts a lifetime in a warm, nurturing environment. Children’s Conservatory dancers will focus on motor skills, musicality, coordination, personal relationships, responsibility, and more.

If a dancer is interested in performing, they are encouraged to audition for the ADC productions.
